Interfaith Life in Photos

Dear Interfaith Families and Friends,

Interfaith life in photos
You may recall that I now have a blog. With it, I can post photos of events. Well, soon I can post photos, as soon as my friends are home from their honeymoon and re-teach me how to do that.
I’ll start with the photos I took at Israel in the Gardens. What a lovely day it turned out to be - the sun came out and glinted off the musicians and dancers. The aroma of middle eastern food wafted through the white tented booths. For a few hours the whole world was Jewish and you knew every tenth person.

Your picture is worth a thousand words
I’m also going to be asking some of you who have sent me photos of your engagements, weddings, babies, parents and vacations to give me permission to put you on my website.
If you are willing to grab 15 minutes of fame, send me your photo with a caption and I’ll post you too.

Wedding plans
I just found this on the internet. Laurel Snyder is the editor of Half Life, a the collection of essays on growing up in an interfaith home. Some of you met her at her book reading in San Francisco late last year.

Interfaith in Alaska
When the Frozen Chosen intermarry, did you know they call the family "Jewskimos?" At least that’s what it says in a funny article on Michael Chabon’s new book, The Yiddish Policeman’s Union. Read this article from Reuters:

In French film, Bad Faith, Clara and Ishmael are gorgeous, happy, in love and in Paris. How nice is that? Exodus
From 1934 through the spring of 1948, "illegal ships" journeyed from Europe to Palestine, carrying Jews who sought refuge in Eretz Yisrael but were refused immigration visas by the British. One of the ships of refugees was a decrepit U.S. steamship renamed the Exodus 1947. On July 11, 1947 the ship set sail from the port of Sete, France carrying 4,500 Jewish refugees. But the ship never reached port. British destoyers intercepted Exodus 1947 in international waters. Sixty years after the sailing, discover the true story and "meet" Haganah member Yossi Harel, the real shipper of the Exodus 1947.
